With a winter snowfall of over 3 meters, Uonuma has a scenery that is unlike any other. It is possible to enjoy winter sports like skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing, and there are other activities to experience, like heart-warming winter events, taking a bath while admiring the winter snow, and trying your hand at snow removal.
Yakushi Ski Area
This is a compact area with 4 courses, and north-facing slopes that have great snow quality.
This is a ski area for beginners and intermediates, but there is also a slope at the top that has a maximum angle of 30 degrees which the more advanced will enjoy.
It is possible to reserve the whole resort for private use on weekdays. With the Yu-Park Yakushi Onsen close by, this is perfect for families.

Oyu Onsen Ski Area
The ski area is close to the onsen ryokans, it has good quality snow, views of Echigo-Komagatake, looks down into the onsen town, and even though it is small, it can be enjoyed by beginners and experts alike. Go for a ski, take an onsen, and then ski again! It is possible to reserve the whole resort for private use on weekdays.

Uonuma Ohara Ski Area
Ohara Ski Area has views of Mt. Sumon-dake. Families, as well as serious skiers and boarders, can enjoy this area. From the very start of the season until Golden Week there is plenty of good quality snow. It is possible for a private race set-up for groups so that you can practice to your heart’s content.

Okutadami Maruyama Ski Area
Okutadami Maruyama Ski Area is one of the first in the prefecture to get snow, and you can then enjoy winter sports until Golden Week.
Once you exit the long tunnel you find yourself in a white world.
There are a variety of courses for beginners, children, or experts.
The SAJ accredited instructors from the school teach all levels, from the very basics to advanced racing for experts. Please come and thoroughly enjoy skiing and boarding.

Suhara Ski Area
This is the biggest ski area along Uonuma’s Tadami Line and it can be enjoyed by beginners, families and experts alike. The high speed hooded quad lift can whisk you up to the top of the mountain in just 6 minutes. With 10 courses to keep things varied, this is a resort that can be enjoyed by both skiers and boarders.
After your day on the slopes, drop by the Kamiyu Onsen Club to soak your fatigue away.
